DOC LINK is a program that serves incarcerated individuals ages 22 and over and is offered in the dayrooms of the various prison housing units on Rikers Island. We serve 900 adults in custody per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year, excluding public holidays. Monday through Friday our jail‐based facilitators offer two 2.5 hour workshops sessions daily with approximately 25 participants in each group. We provide two types of workshop sessions: (1) workshops based on work readiness and (2) class sessions offering certification in hard skills such as OSHA 10 and 30-General Industry, and Construction Industry training, Custodial Maintenance Training and Flagger Training. At the end of each session, our jail- based facilitators devote time to one-on-one counseling with inmates to prepare post-release plans. Fedcap organizes festive family days with activities and food to encourage relationships between inmates and their families.
